More often than not, less is more and my card today is a great example. I was so pleased with Hanging the Stockings from Just Inklined when I finished coloring the image. I don't know why I thought that crackle accents would give it just the right touch. Wrong decision! I've successfully used the medium before and never had a problem but this time, it caused the red and gray to bleed. To top it off, apparently the gold ink pad that I used was too old so after a few minutes what was gold turn black, resulting in the appearance of smoke filling the room where the fireplace is located. Oh well, what is done is done and cannot be undone and all we can do is learn from our mistakes. Makes me nuts since I haven't made a mistake since 1954 or was it 1953!
Yep, beware those reds! If you hadn't said anything, we wouldn't have known though....basically you've given it a vintage look, so it isn't really a mistake. Don't want to ruin your perfect record, after all baby mistakes don't count. lol

If you had not of told us of your scuffle with products we would have thought how very vintage your card is Tammy. So ignoring all your calamities. Your card is lovely Tammy because it is oh so vintage style.
ReplyDeleteI think your "mistake" turned into something quite unique! I'm really liking the sooty look to this. It just gives it a very Christmas-y feel! A pretty card.

I can't believe you are not happy with the finished product, Tammy...I think this looks AWESOME!!!! The different colors give this a real rustic, shabby look...love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI still love the effect. From where I sit it looks great. Kind of antique.
ReplyDeleteIt really does have a great vintage feel to it!

It looks beautiful to me Tammy, would have never known a thing if you didn't tell us :).
ReplyDeleteDon't you just hate it when that happens? I had to click on it to see where the red ran and where the gold turned to black. Looks like a vintage picture that you print and not color to me. The black looks fine since it looks aged. So dahling, your record is still strong. It is not a mistake it is a "One-of-a-Kind" vintage creation! Have a good one sweetie. Linda
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this! And your coring is amazing!! You outdid yourself with this one. I wouldn't have guessed anything was wrong with it if you hadn't said anything.
