Dude Time Doodles World Premier Blog Hop

I'm so glad you decided to stop by today because today is the day for the very first Dude Time Doodles Monthly Release Blog Hop featuring all new images that will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m. EST, today.

The first card I am sharing with you is Sammy Scarecrow, who just happens to be outstanding in the field. The crows and sentiment are not included, I added them to create a scene to show the versatility of the images. Can't you see the wheels in Sammy's head turning? He's trying to figure out how he is going to get that turkey leg in his mouth.

My next card is Tom Turkey, silly Tom, trying to think of a way to disguise himself. I think he should jump in a vat of blue ink and paste some glitz and glitter on his feathers and bam, he's a peacock!

There are great prizes to win!

Grand Prizes

CNS Stores Gift Certificate $20

Stamp-by-Steph Gift Certificate $20

Free full set of New Release BDD digital images $30 value

AND

Dude Time Doodles Design Team Give Away of 1 FREE New Release Digi per team member during the Grand Opening. Trick of Treat

Hey everyone, Happy Halloween. The municipalities in my area designate one evening for trick or treating and it was Thursday. I purchased two bags of candy for the occasion. I had a grand total of one trick or treater, I repeat, only one trick or treater. Sad part, I have no clue who the trick or treater was or how they were dressed since I never got to see the ghost or goblin. This is what happened: I went out the backdoor, walked around a bush to the front door and knocked, I ran back around the house, jumped the bush, ran inside and opened the front door, but no one was there. Ran out the backdoor (jumped over the bush) and stood at the front door and said, "trick or treat", went back around the house (jumped over the bush) ran into the house, opened the door and no one was there! I figured, someone was playing a prank so to be safe, I placed a piece of candy on the porch floor, closed the door, locked it, ran out the backdoor, (jump over the bush) to the front door and picked-up one lousy piece of candy! Come on, it should have been at least two pieces.

"Slip sliding away . . .

Slip sliding away, you know the nearer your destination, the more you slip away". Do you remember this song by  Simon and Garfunkel? If you do, you probably will be singing it in your head for the rest of the day and possibly tomorrow.

This young lad has slipped and his gluteus maximus is about to reach its destination.  He did not fall because he cannot skate, no, his fall is the direct result of his nasty sister deliberately pushing him, and she swears up and down that he pushed her first. This familiar scenario begs the question: if you are an only child, who do you  blame?

KennyK. Downloads has been kind enough to share some of his Christmas digis with the design team of Stampin Dragons Designs for this week's challenge. I have included the sketch to follow if you wish to participate and one of the winners of three prizes. In the meantime, please visit the blogs of the other design team members to see more of KennyK Downloads fabulous designs.

Typhoon

My youngest daughter lives in Okinawa, Japan and right now they are riding out their first typhoon.  Fortunately, their house is solid cement and will probably withstand 100 mile an hour winds. Happily, these cute animals from Sassy Cheryl's rode out the storm in their umbrella and are cruising along under the rainbow. I plan on entering the card in Sassy Cheryl 's Challenge which is anything but a square card.

Bat Soup

I hate cooking and generally speaking, the speciality at my house is peanut butter and jelly or jelly with peanut butter and the choice of crust or no crust. But this time of year, I do enjoy a hot bowl of bat soup and when I saw these fun images at The Digi Shack, it reminded me of the recipe that has been handed down in my family for generations and decided to share it.  Its fairly easy to make (else this kid wouldn't make it), it just requires time to cook on the stove. Simple to make the recipe is as follows:

2,000 medium size bats
1 carrot
1 onion
1 pepper
1 duck egg

Place the bats, carrot, onion and pepper in a large pot and add enough water to cover (usually about 1 cup). Cook for 15 hours, do not remove the lid until it has cooked at least 12 hours.  The last half-hour of cooking, crack the duck egg into a small bowl and drop it into the mixture (careful not to get any of the shell) and finish cooking.  Serve with two or three week old crusty bread and maybe a small salad. If you prefer a salty taste add a cup or two of salt otherwise, omit salt. Of important note though, only use an egg from a duck otherwise, you will not have "quackers" in your soup.

Since its Showcase Wednesday at The Digi Shack, be sure to visit my fellow shack sistahs (their links  are located on my sidebar) and see if they have any good recipes.

Now and then

Somewhere between now and then, don't know how, but time totally evaporated and I am behind the eight ball. To make matters worse, I can't find the rest of the balls. I suppose I could blame it on the girls but Xena is afraid of balls and Rozie just cannot be bothered.  On occasions when I have attempted to played "fetch" Rozie looks at me as if to say "well now that was stupid, pick it up." My sweet wonderful goldens have taught me so much about life, fetching is not fun, happiness is a nap, and housework sucks and I say, amen.

Before I get to a card. . .

Can I just say this, WHOOTY HOOT! Wait, I have to fasten my seatbelt before I tell you that I have been chosen to join the first design team ever of Dude Time Doodles Challenge, the brainchild of Bonibleaux Designs Digis! Wow, what a thrill, my fellow design team members are from all over the United States and the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Australia and Africa! I just got the news and therefore I have nothing to show you but I can tell you to stay tuned and be prepared for fun images that, shall I say, pokes the male species right where "that" rib had been located.

Now for my card. I love this image and I have to tell you I worked really, really hard to cut the leaf  (I'm not allowed to play with scissors) and then make all the little square line-up evenly, I probably should have turned the fan off first but I think they are all there and even.

Get Well Soon

This enchanting image is by Inger Harding. Ms. Harding has a beautiful blog with many freebies so I helped myself to a few including this sweet digi.  She has a real touch for delicate features that to me, indicated soft pastel colors.  Her images are available for sale at Squigglefly.  I love my dollar stamps but I love freebies even more.

Undecided

I took advantage of another dollar stamp and scraps of paper and this is what happened. Definitely fall colors and definitely a pretty stamp, but I can't decide if I like the results or not. I think is needs something, what do you suggest?

Catch and Release

Do you know anyone who has caught a fish every month, regardless of weather, for more then eight years? I do and I can tell you I worry each month until that month's fish has been snagged. For many years I was his secretary and I would make sure his schedule allowed for plenty of time at the end of each month to "practice fishing" so he would be at the top of his game by the first of the month. He thinks nothing of donning his waders over his three-piece suit and tossing a line. I wonder if it has occurred to him that he is now catching the trillionth great-grandfish of the first fish he caught?  Besides tying his own flies (can't image what he says to the flies to make them lie down long enough to be tied up), he also keeps a log of where, the time of day, and the bait he used to catch each fish -- geez, lots of bookkeeping involved in fishing, who knew?  When Stampin Dragons Designs recently released the image of Rupert fishing, it was a must have.  Be sure to "catch" the blogs of my fellow team members to see this week's card.

Happy Card

I needed a "happy" card to send to someone who needed cheering up and a gentle reminder that I am here.  I think this sassy little donkey from Karen's Doodles fills both requirements.

Which Way Did The Witch Go?

Witches love to party -- why else would they need such big pots? For the purpose of this post, it is not necessary to reveal their preferred menu but I can tell you they love an assortment of the fruits of the vine and indulge every chance they get and party-hardy. Obviously, the owner of this broomstick did not heed the "do not drink and drive warnings" and tried to fly drunk. As you might image, she fell off her broom and now her hat and poor cat are stranded in the upper stratosphere. Thank goodness witchy-poo had the foresight to set the broom on autopilot before takeoff; however, unlike other modes of transportation, brooms do not require fuel so please, please, keep you eyes toward the sky and if you see a poor old cat circling on a broom, call the authorities for help. Because of the careless witch, the cat is on the last of his nine lives but beware, if you catch him, he's yours. On the upside, you get a free broom and hat!

I made this card with a combination of images from The Digi Shack. Since its Wednesday, its Showcase Day so be sure to visit the blogs of my shack sistahs to see their awesome creations.

It's All About The Pie

I love pie but I am a pie snob, which means, I do not like store bought dough or canned pie filling. And please, if you are making me an apple pie, whatever you do, do not use nutmeg. On the other hand, if you are making me a cherry pie, use a little extra tapioca so the juice is not runny. You are probably thinking if she is that particular she should make a pie herself. Well, I would, I'm just too lazy.

How About This For Dramatic

I am sure if you tried you could make this card more dramatic but I think it would be difficult.

If Its Sunday It Must Be Soccer

The Hot Shots soccer team consists of four and five year old boys and girls, and my favorite players happen to be my  twin granddaughters. Each team has four players with three on the field and one waiting to play. The field is not regulation size but it should be because the ball is out of bounds more then its in play. What a hoot!  One granddaughter runs up and down the field with her hand on her hip and the other is hustling for the ball and scoring goals. Although they only practice once a week, we can see an overall improvement with each game.  Since each granddaughter has a different number on their jersey, I left this sweet soccer player of Mo Manning's blank. Sad to say but it took grandma three attempts to color the ball correctly. What can I say, I'm a girly-girl at heart so adding glitz and bling to the ball would be more my style.

I wish I knew where this digital image is from. I'm positive it was a freebie and since it is so pretty, I would like to say thank you again.

Lil Behind

I'm a little worried about "Lil Behind" carrying a birthday cake with flaming candles. What if she drops it?

Time again for a challenge at Stampin Dragon Designs which is being sponsored by Stitchy Bears. The challenge is to use an inking technique and if you are the winner, you get to chose a combination of five images from Stitchy Bears and Trees Award.  Before you get started on your card, be sure to visit the blogs of my fellow Stampin Dragon Designs team designers.

I'm Exhaused

Four days ago, I posted about the mice situation in my house and since that time, I have had a funeral each and every day, sometimes two, and I'm exhausted from the necessary planning and conducting of funerals for these critters, not to mention it is very time consuming. I find it interesting that I have found three dead mice in the basement and not in traps-- note to self: Self, do not leave dirty clothing waiting to be taken to the river for laundering on the floor otherwise, mice might conclude you are giving them blankets.  Finding a mouse in a trap is bad enough but seeing one laying in the middle of the floor is totally unnerving. Me thinks, Xena is irritated by small creatures running about where she likes to be and kills them. At least, she doesn't eat them.

Grrrrr

Since November 1, 2009, this poor dear has been planning this year's Halloween costume. All he wanted to be was a devil. His mom, being an overachiever, set about making him the very best possible devil costume she could, right down to rhinestones on the hem and cuffs. Unfortunately, mom decided to wash the costume so it would be spotless and the dye in the fabric ran. Sadly, his once brilliant red costume is now a washed out purple and worse yet, all his underwear is pink! So if he knocks on your door this Halloween, be kind.

This fun Brian Lock image is available at The Digi Shack. The background is plain old purple paper that I brushed with bleach. Be sure to visit my shack sistahs' blogs today for more fun images from The Digi Shack.

Flossie Bumblethorpe Says . . .

"Obey gravity, its the law." Isn't Flossie a kick in the pants. I love her. Even though her dentures no longer fit properly, she still gets all dolled-up each morning right down to the lipstick and her trademark, eau de toilette -- one dab behind each ear. According to her home website Justinklined Digital Stamps, Flossie met her husband, Sylas, during an air-raid when he was trying to hide black market nylons in her Anderson shelter. They were married shortly thereafter on V.E. Day and they have been arguing ever since. Personally, I cannot imagine anyone arguing with Mrs. Bumblethorpe and winning and from the looks of her family tree on the website, it does seem they had a few moments of marital bliss.

Scaredy Cat

Right about now, I am wishing I had a cat. Not just any cat but a cat with a fetish for mice! This time of the year, the mice seem to congregate in my kitchen pantry eating everything they can get their little mouths on. I have invested in tins and plastic containers to store dry food such as noodles, popcorn and dry soup. Not to be deterred, the little darlings have started munching the labels on the cans -- how much nutrition is there in a piece of paper, apparently a lot. I hate doing it but I set several mousetraps since I do not want my home infested with several generations of these creatures.  Unfortunately, within minutes of setting the traps, one was caught but not DOA. Instead, it just cried. I cried too.  I wish I could speak to the king or queen of mice and negotiate a deal wherein I would provide them three squares a day if they would live across the street.

Friend are Flowers that Never Fade

This absolutely beautiful image is from Stampin Dragon Designs. I do not mean beautiful in the sense of what I have done to the image, I mean beautiful as in the truth of the sentiment surrounded by the image.

Happy Happy Birthday

Sorry, no story just a pretty card suitable for a man or a woman's birthday provided, or course, their birthday is this time of the year.

Halloween Boy

Isn't pumpkin head cute!  He cannot wait to jump off the page at The Digi Shack to fill his pockets with Halloween treats. When his pockets overflow, he will put goodies in his hat. Of course, he plans on eating as much as he can as fast as he can and then tossing the paper onto the ground, leaving a paper trail behind so he can find his way home -- it is difficult to see through a pumpkin.  He also promises to pick-up each and every piece of paper on the way home, and if it is an especially good treat, knocking on that particular door for more. Bad pumpkin head.

Make sure you visit each of my shack sisters' blogs and see other images you might like from The Digi Shack.

Birthday Fishes

I love how this card turned out. Hopefully, the recipient will like it too. By the way, if your goldfish suffers from constipation, give it shelled peas. Go figure.

Monsters

Today is the day that Stamping Dragons Designs shows off their cute Halloween images. My card features "monsters" but they didn't want to be monsters and begged for a different look. One-eye circle monster had his heart set on Superman and little miss one-eyed bowling pin was determined to be a princess to the point of growing long curly hair and ordering a tiara online (she thinks its real diamonds). Nevertheless, they both got their wish. What can I say, I spoil my kids too, two-legged and four-legged. Be sure to visit my fellow design team members to see their fun creations.

Boo To You Too

It probably will not surprise you to know that I love Halloween, not because I am a witch, or even know one for that matter although, I am pretty sure I had several teachers who were, and yes, thank you very much, I can remember back that far! And not because of the candy either, but because of all the fun coloring opportunities there are such as the one I am showing you today that is a freebie from Justinklined that I could not resist. Hope it doesn't scare you too much.

Don't Rain on my Parade

This week's challenge at Stampin Dragon Designs is being sponsored by Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps. The challenge is to make a water theme card and I used "Don't Rain on my Parade" for my card. If your card is the winner, you will receive three digital images from Robyn's Fetish. Don't wait, this challenge closes on October 7.  Please visit the blogs of the other design team members to see what they have created using other Robyn's Fetish images by clicking on the links located on my sidebar.

Don't forget, at 7:00 this morning, Stampin Dragon Designs store forum opens and your chance to be a "Spotlight Guest Designer" begins.  To be considered as a "Spotlight Guest Designer", you must use a Stampin Dragon Designs image and showcase it anywhere including blogs, challenges, or group pages.  If you are spotted, you will be making two cards for the month.

Good luck!
