Pirates and Rum

Ahoy Matey Matt by Bonibleaux Designs has stopped by to tell you why it is that we associate pirates with rum.  The answer is rather simple. Back in the heyday of pirates, "kil devil" a byproduct of processed sugar cane, was used by the Caribbean captains because it was cheap. A small amount was normally added to the water to kill algae and to enhance the taste. See, I told you it was simple.
