Kokeshi Doll

My youngest daughter and her husband are being true sponges soaking up the culture while living in Okinawa.  For Christmas they shared a touch of their culture with me and send me a November Kokeshi doll and three origami Kokeshi bookmarks.

I thought I would try making a bookmark but after close inspection, I decided I should probably stick to coloring and forget trying to fold little tiny pieces of paper to make a doll. Naturally, I turned to digis and I found Miyahko Fan at Whimsie Doodles. Looking through my stash, I discovered Chinese coins that I thought would compliment the bookmark. The rubberstamp I used says Faith, Hope and Love. I hope that my creation is not offensive to either culture.

  12. So pretty! I'm sure the Okinawan's will love this card! If your daughter was smart, she'd send you the 5 or 50 yen piece-which have holes in them to put on your Japanese card! Great card!!!

  13. The Japanese dolls and tags that you received are beautiful. Your tag is every much as pretty as the ones you received, even if the paper isn't folded. The coins are a real bonus touch
