Thanks

I wish I could take credit for the idea behind my card but Maile Belles posted a similar card on Ellen Hutson's, the Class Room, that I loved. Although similar, the major difference is that I used scraps of Pop Tone #65 cardstock from the PaperTempress that I've been hoarding! From left to right the colors are: banana split, bubblegum, grape jelly, spearmint, grapesicle, razzle berry, and jellybean green! If your sweet tooth is not screaming for candy after reading this post, you are one very strong person!

Roger Redskin

Goodness, it's hard to believe that we are almost out of days in May but since it's the last Wednesday of the month, its time for a Dude Time Doodles New Release Blog Hop and yours truly is leading the pack with Roger Redskin! Since I'm not a fan of the Redskins, I'm cannot say for certain but I think Roger might be their only fan!

Your next stop is to see what Sharon has created and make sure as you hop along you leave each of Dude Time Doodles' Dudettes and the Dude a comment because once again there's a mystery host that will be giving one lucky commenter a free digi from Dude Time Doodles!

Sleepy Beauty

Sleepy Beauty is by Krista Smith of Saturated Canary fame. You can easily recognize a Saturated Canary image by their intoxicating eyes and gorgeous locks of hair that most of us dream of having.

Whimsy Sunflower

Happy Memorial Day! I think someone has upset Mother Nature since she's turned up the heat to July temperatures and it's still May!

The new Squigglefly challenge that starts today is being hosted by Rhonda's Rowdy Rascals but since I am participating in Squigglefly's One-A-Day-In-May, I thought I better start using the images and not just admire them! After watching Beate's technique Smackin' Acetate, I thought I would give it a try using Sandy Sommerfeld's sweet image, Whimsy Sunflower, to create this one layer card. Fun, fun technique! Watch the video, give it a try and then enter your creation into this week's Squigglefly challenge!

Sam's Rainy Day

When I saw Sam's Rainy Day by Sassy Cheryl's Digis, I absolutely could not resist this super cute image! I've never met a child or a golden retriever that could resist a walk through a puddle! Come to think of it, I still enjoy it too!

Benny Bumblethorpe

What a mess! Just Inklined's mischievous Daisy Bumblethorpe and her incorrigible brother, Benny Bumblethorpe, came for a visit and while my back was turned, Daisy took off to the neighbor's garden to help herself to some new flowers! If that's not bad enough, Benny got into the paint and decorated everything in sight green! Upon questioning, he very proudly stated that he was doing his part to save the planet by going green! Oy vey!!

Louis, Butterflies and Buttercups

I don't know how you feel about it but I hate when a dragon dashes through my garden chasing butterflies and smashes down my pretty flowers with its big feet! But each spring, without fail, that is exactly what happens! Apparently I am not the only person who has witnessed such goings on otherwise, Louis, Butterflies and Buttercups, from the Digi Doodle Shop would not have been created! Louis and his antics is my inspiration to get you to join Team Ruth in the Digi Doodle Shop Challenge to "get spotty"! Join the fun, and you might be the winner of a $10.00 gift certificate to the Digi Doodle Shop!

Happy Birthday

Is it possible to have enough birthday cards? I think not! The sweet image is from Mayzy Art that was a freebie members of The Outlawz stamping community received! Gotta love freebies, thanks Mayzy Art!

Dog Love

When I saw Dog Love by KiniArt at Can You Digi It, I absolutely couldn't resist this adorable pooch! When I combined her with Blue Star Jean digi paper, offered as a freebie during the challenge, I had a perfect union for the new Can You Digi Challenge - Love of Country! So come on now, play along, get started on your Independence Day cards and you might win a $10 gift certificate to Can You Digi It! Need more inspiration, visit the other "IT" gals!

Sherman

It's Monday, time for a new Squigglefly challenge and it's being hosted by Holley's Hobbyists.  The challenge is to Use a Square Peg in a Round Hole or in other words, make a card that uses some thing OUTSIDE the usual, perhaps a different card shape, weird buttons or an embellishment that you would never think goes on a card and inspire us all!

I used Sherman by Squigglefly's artist, Jane Beljo, and made him my entire card, shape and all! And thinking outside of the box, I used pink distress ink because if you had a pink lamb that wore a pink ribbon on the top of his head, would you think his name would be Sherman?

Happy Birthday

Sometimes the best thing you can do is play and I certainly enjoyed myself playing with distress inks, vellum music paper and several different stamps. I liked playing so much, I'm going to do it again soon!

Dick Van Duck Graduate

Dick Van Duck Graduate from Just Inklined is not your average graduating student! No indeed! Since Dick was a wee little duckling, he aspired to be a great scholar and could always be found in the library "quacking" the books! But the time has come for him to go out into the world and leave the academic lifestyle behind. All of Dick's professors are thankful to see him receive his diploma inasmuch as his presence in class was disruptive because he was constantly "quacking" jokes! I know, groan!!

Pop Tones Banana Split

I have been participating in an interactive card design class with Julie Ebersole and friends. For my first attempt I turned to my stash of PopTones cardstock from the PaperTemptress and chose the scrumptious- good enough to eat - Banana Split cardstock, embossed it with black and used Cryogen White cardstock for the sentiment to create my first swing card!

Postman Pearce

I must confess, I look forward to seeing the mailman each day because he is one cutie-pie and I do mean CUTE! He looks nothing like Postman Pearce from Bonibleaux Designs who is stepping livelier because it stopped raining and he's able to deliver birthday wishes without getting soaking wet! Postman Pearce also serves to introduce you to the new Dude Time Doodles challenge that starts today to make a birthday card! Check out the Dude and the Dudettes' birthday wishes and visit Dude Time Doodles for all the details!

April Showers Dance

I think Mother Nature must be having scheduling difficulties since we are having April's showers in May! Because it's not nice to fool with Mother Nature, the only thing that can be done is play along with her. I did so by creating with a cute Sassy Cheryl image that perfectly depicts the weather outside!

Bunny Boo

Bunny Boo by Squigglefly's artist Fawn Palmer is an image I originally thought I would use on Easter cards but somehow, Bunny Boo's sweet face said something other than "Happy Easter," I think she says, I love you!

Be sure to get on the new challenge starting today hosted by Rhonda's Rowdy Rascals! For all the detail's visit Squigglefly's challenge blog.

Happy Mother's Day!

To all my friends, I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day filled to the brim with love!

Pint-Size Laura

When I first saw Pint-Size Laura, I stunned. I was shocked I tell you! I thought wow, obviously one of Just Inklined's artists saw me and was so astonished with my beauty, captured me in ink! What a thrill!  There I was in black and white, my long-flowing blond hair and each and every one of my fine feminine features (especially my cleavage and tiny waist *snort* - - maybe in a past or future lifetime) was so exact I double-checked the name of the image expecting to see "Tammy"! Now that I know otherwise, should I spell disappointed with a capital "D" or a lower case "d"?

Pint-Size Laura is mounted on paper created and gifted to me by my super online friend Kevin, if you double click on the image to enlarge it, you will see tons of bottles of beer! I'm thinking Kevin might be a frequent patron of the establishment where Pint-Size Laura is employed!

The Graduates

A new Digi Doodle Shop Challenge starts today and it's Team Ruth's turn to announce the challenge as well as provide you with inspiration. The challenge is bingo/lottery, the bingo board and all the details can be found at the Digi Doodle Shop Challenge. I used The Graduates for my card and I incorporated ribbon, sparkles, ink, three different papers and lace. I may not have bingo but I should get extra points because my lace is laced!  Come along and join the fun and you might be the winner of a $10 gift certificate to spend at the Digi Doodle Shop!

Hen Pecked

Traveling back and forth to Missouri each summer as a child, there was little to do during the long ride except play zip (counting horses), reading comic books, or annoying my brother which apparently I did constantly! I do remember seeing lots of barns that were painted by companies to entice passerby's to use their products and which also benefited the farmer by getting their barn painted.  The thought of those painted barns brings me to the new challenge that starts today at Can You Digi It, "Painted Memories". For my card I attempted to replicate the side of a barn and then I used Hen Pecked for my sign. The sentiment that goes around the forlorn chicken says, "Henpecked (adj) - inclined to submit to the wishes of others." If you enter the challenge and win, you will receive a $10 gift certificate to the Can You Digi It store. For more inspiration, please visit the other "IT" girls!

This Little Piggy had Chardonnay

Such a fun image! I love Squigglefly's artist, Suzanne Urban's images and This Little Piggy had Chardonnay is one of my favorites! Holley's Hobbyists are up to bat this week for the new challenge at Squigglefly and that is to use stickles. Now how easy is that? It's hard to see but trust me, I used stickles on the bubbles. So get out your stickles and get creating and for goodness sake, no more sharing chardonnay with little pigs!

Just Inklined's Blog Hop for May

Just Inklined's Blog Hop for May is hosted by the awesome Toni and her challenge to the team was to make a one-layer card, not an easy challenge for me since I love to mix and match designer paper and I like to pop-up my images. But a challenge is a challenge and I've manage to complete it using one of the four images from JI-005. If you followed along in the hop, you arrived here from the super-talented Jak's blog and you've reached the end. If that is not the case, go to Toni's blog and take the hop. Be sure to leave a message at each blog for a chance to win one of the two spot prizes!

Betty

I have a very extra-special bosom buddy that is having a birthday this week and once again, I am so, so thankful that I am NOT that old! But being a good friend, I HAD to make her a unique card for the big day and because she loves dogs, I used Betty from Paper Pretties. My friend knows what a lousy cook I am, but now I don't have to feel guilty about not baking a cake since Betty is whipping up a terrific one just for the occasion! In the process of finding the links for Betty, I ended up leaving Paper Pretties with two new digis in my cart -- I'm blaming it on the birthday girl, after all, isn't it proper to buy yourself a present (or two) on a pal's birthday?

Early 1920's Magazine Image

If you have not visited Digital Two for Tuesday and you like vintage, you are missing fabulous images taken from magazines, books and other printed materials that are free. The image I used for today's card is from an early 1920's magazine that I think lends itself perfectly to one of Tim Holtz's background techniques using distress inks.

Petticoats Three

When I first saw Petticoats Three over at Just Inklined, it was instant happiness. I was very curious about the little tags on each petticoat and I assumed (never assume) that the numbers indicated sizes but each looked to me to be the same proportions. I decided to ask and not assume so I sent an email to Just Inklined's chief guru and my crafting idol, Jak Heath, and she very sweetly advised me that it is old English money, seven shillings and sixpence for the first, six shillings for the second, and ten shillings and sixpence for the third. She also told me that my question gave her a little giggle. If I wasn't so embarrassed by my ignorance, I would have asked her if she would mind converting the total into American dollars and cents!

Hello Friend

There is not too much that I can tell you about today's card because the gorgeous cardstock from the PaperTemptress speaks for itself. I used black embossing power on Black Pearl Glossy cardstock and add some contrast with Pop Tones #100 Whip Cream cardstock. Unfortunately, my picture taking skills haven't improved but at least you can see the beautiful sparkle and shine of the Black Pearl Glossy cardstock.

John MacinNo

As always, the first Wednesday of the month means its challenge time at Dude Time Doodles! The challenge is very near to the heart of most dudes and easy enough when "It's Sports Day" to create a card for the men in your life! I used John MacinNo one of the new images from Bonibleaux Designs and although he lost the match, he's a true champion at heart. Get you creative juices flowing by visiting the Dude and the Dudettes and then create a special card featuring any sports for the man or men in your life, big or little! The winner will receive three images of their choice from Bonibleaux Designs

Disco Dancer

My granddaughter just turned twenty. Naturally, glam-ma (that would be me) had to make her a birthday card and thanks to the gold mine of images that I discovered at Mayzy Art, I found one that is perfect, Disco Dancer
