Red is for Valentine

This was probably the easier card I've ever made but on my goodness, it's so very pretty because of the rich appearance of Laser Red Gloss Lustre cardstock from the PaperTemptress. I punched out a valentine from the cardstock and I used black embossing powder to emboss the small valentines directly to the card's base, tied on a piece of ribbon and it was done!

Queen Bee

Good Monday morning, time for a new Squigglefly challenge, Show the Red! Perfect timing if you are making valentines or perhaps you are seeing red, meaning you need to blow off steam! Holley's Hobbyists are very pleased to provide you with inspiration. I used Queen Bee by Suzanne Urban from Squigglefly that is busy in her own little world flittering around the honey squares collecting honey! I guess at her age, she's forgotten that her job is to lay eggs and let someone else collect the sweet nectar and do the housework!

After you've checked out all the wonderful inspirations provided by Holley's Hobbyists, please join us and Show the Red at Squigglefly and you might win the prize. While you are visiting Squigglefly, take a little extra time and check out the tutorials that are available.

Here's to Anything

This beautiful image was part of this week's new releases at Squigglefly. Here's to Anything is another incredible image by Lynne Stansbery. It is my humble opinion that the line drawing is so beautifully shaded, I could not do it justice by coloring it. Instead I used a background stamp and distress ink to create an elegant card intended for a bride and groom on their wedding day.

A fool and his money

. . . are soon my boyfriend! This funny sentiment is by Chesney Young and is being released today at Squigglefly. I paired the sentiment with Badonkadonk that is also by Chesney Young. I posed for the image and I think Chesney did a wonderful job recreating my hourglass figure!

Miss Shoe

This beautiful shoe is by the incredible artists at Just Inklined and comes with three equally lovely images as a digi sheet that can be found here. If you are keeping track, this is the second hat pin for me plus I used flowers which is rare because I lack the knack to arrange them. This card is to send to someone that is missed terribly so I computer generated the sentiment. But with a different sentiment, wouldn't it make a wonderful card to send to a bride-to-be!

Zorana, A Dancing Gypsy

After admiring many gorgeous cards using images created by Krista Smith of the Saturated Canary, I couldn't resist any longer! I went shopping and Zorana, A Dancing Gypsy was the first image I put in my shopping cart.

Archie Heartful

I love this time of the month when Dude Time Doodles' design team comes together in a blog hop to showcase the new images being released at Bonibleaux Designs! My card features Archie Heartful who is trying to be cool while his heart races as he hands his sweetheart a bouquet of flowers for Valentine's Day. And yes, in case you're wondering, Archie is a relative of Howdy Doody on his mother's side of the family.

The blog hop is a circle, there is no beginning or end, you move along until you see them all.  If you've already started the hop, you should have come from Dude Kevin's blog and your next stop is Dude Time Doodles. Be sure to leave love at each stop along the way, one of us is the mystery host and you might be the winner.

Valentine

I think it's a toss up between what I like creating the most, Halloween or Valentine cards? I am very pleased with today's card and, it's another first, a hat pin! This kid is really stepping out of her box!

The Old Sot

Outside
One of Squigglefly's recent releases includes The Old Sot by artist Lynne Stansbery and I personally share her attitude when it comes to housework! If I absolutely must undertake any form of housekeeping, I look for an excuse not to or take the easiest possible way to get it done. One of the tools I have in my arsenal of cleaning supplies is a hairdryer. Turn it on, aim in the direction of the dust and call it dusted!

Rhonda's Rowdy Rascals are providing the inspiration for Squigglefly's challenge that starts today. It's a recipe challenge calling for the use of ribbon or twine, glitter or something sparkly and a brad somewhere on your card. I got all three elements but you have to look close for the glitter, it's the pimentos inside the three brads a/k/a olives at the bottom of the card.

Hope you take a look at what Rhonda's Rowdy Rascals have created and then play along. We all know, you can't win if you don't play!

Heart Sheep

Outside
The weatherman got it right! He predicted 3 to 5 inches of snow and we received 6 inches although while I was shoveling, it seemed more like 3 feet of snow! But in between trips outdoors to shovel, I did manage to get a card done. The adorable image, Heart Sheep, is from Doodle Pantry

Puppy Love

Isn't Puppy Love - Envelope from Bugaboo Stamps sweet? I just happen to be "browsing" and the next thing I knew this cute little pup had followed me home! What's so terrific is that he came paper trained!

Chocolate Box

Just Inklined has released several new images and one of them is this beauty, Chocolate Box, just in time for Valentine's Day! I colored it with distress inks and it's the first 5x5 card I've made.

Charming!

I am very fortunate to have two extremely rare blue snakes living under my porch. What makes them exceptionally unique aside from their blue color is the fact that there are only two such snakes in the entire world and they picked my house to call their nest! Naturally I was delighted when Digi Doodle Shop came out with the new image, Charming, because they look exactly like my snakes, very friendly and sweet! I really lucked out on the timing of this new image since it works well for this week's challenge at Digi Doodle Shop which is to use Blue and Brown that starts today!  So there you have it, use blue and brown to enter the challenge and if you win, you will receive a $10.00 gift certificate to the store. Please stop by and visit my teammates' blogs and leave some love!

For more inspiration be sure to visit the Dude and the Dudettes and then stop by Dude Time Doodles for all the details to play along and be the winner of two images from Pattie's Creations, our sponsor for the challenge!

Kokeshi Doll

My youngest daughter and her husband are being true sponges soaking up the culture while living in Okinawa.  For Christmas they shared a touch of their culture with me and send me a November Kokeshi doll and three origami Kokeshi bookmarks.

I thought I would try making a bookmark but after close inspection, I decided I should probably stick to coloring and forget trying to fold little tiny pieces of paper to make a doll. Naturally, I turned to digis and I found Miyahko Fan at Whimsie Doodles. Looking through my stash, I discovered Chinese coins that I thought would compliment the bookmark. The rubberstamp I used says Faith, Hope and Love. I hope that my creation is not offensive to either culture.

Cute Crawlers

A new challenge is starting today at Squigglefly and finally it's Holley's Hobbyists time to shine! The theme for the challenge is "Button It Up". Your card can include a winter themed image that needs a coat or embellish a card with buttons.  I started with the adorable image Cute Crawlers by Squigglefly's new artist, Fawn Palmer. I think I've got the buttons covered since I used actual buttons and my choice of designer paper is all about buttons! Please spend the time and see what my teammates have created and then get busy and join the challenge, it's the only way you can win!

My Punny Valentine - Set Five

Among Squigglefly's new releases yesterday was Lynne Stansbery's My Punny Valentine - Set Five and today I am sharing with you one of the images and sentiment from that group.  Because I printed the rulers on yellow cardstock, this card was easy and took minutes to make!

Heart Home

Today I get to share with you Heart Home, by Squigglefly's artist Jane Beljo, one of the new images being released today. I got to play with this image and I used embossing and alcohol inks to build my dream home! If you could peek into the window you would see me sitting at my desk creating!

Just Inklined Digi Print JI-020

Two days in a row I'm featuring clothes, maybe my subconscious is telling me to go buy a new dress even though I never wear dresses now that I am retired. Most days I change from pajamas to comfy clothes. Not so on the one and only soap opera that I watch. Just Inklined's gorgeous gown, one of the four images from Digi Print JI-020, is something the ladies of my soap would wear to the office!  And then again, the ladies on my soap also have cleavage!

Vintage Corset and Pantaloons

This beautiful image from Digi Doodle Shop is Vintage Corset & Pantaloon and can be found in Shop by Type and Style - Vintage. I used the image for the new Digi Doodle Shop challenge that starts today asking for Embossing and if you win, you receive a $10 gift certificate to the store, but you must enter, no excuses, we all emboss! And before you ask, I never wore a corset and/or pantaloons, just want to set the record straight and, I might add, I am very thankful.

Count Vladimir

Today starts the monthly Guest Designer / Freebie Challenge at Dude Time Doodles. The freebie this month is Count Vladimir and although he is a distant, distant, way back when cousin to Count Dracula, the family resemblance is obvious. Sadly, Count Vladimir cannot find a girlfriend because of his toothy grin and the bad name his distant, distant way back when cousin bestowed on his clan!

Momma's Little Clown

As a mother of five, I often used the expression "stop clowning around and behave" all the while laughing under my breath and thinking, aren't they cute! But if you saw your child or any child, dressed like Sassy Cheryl's sweet image, Momma's Little Clown, you couldn't help but laugh out loud!

My Punny Valentine Three - Day 2

Didn't I tell you yesterday that I was having a Squigglefly week with My Punny Valentine Set Three by Lynne Stansbery? I think of the three images this is my favorite probably because I have often stepped into bubblegum and other "stuff" (if you get my drift). If you would like to see the image that rounds off this set, please visit Holly, she is the superglue of Squigglefly!

My Punny Valentine Set Three

I am definitely having a Squigglefly week enjoying some of the new images that are being released today! For my card, I used My Punny Valentine Set Three by Lynne Stansbery. Hope you have a chance to see all the new releases as well as welcome three new artists to the Squigglefly family!

Cat Lady

I'm starting to think of myself just like this zany Cat Lady image from Just Inklined, too many cats! Recently our neighborhood seems to be the dumping ground for unwanted cats and since I cannot bear to see an animal starve to death, they migrate to my porch for food and water. As long as the cats remain on the front porch and only long enough to eat and drink, and they do not go into their backyard, my goldens are okay with sharing our home!

One stray cat has not found its way to my house but obviously, it is keeping warm on the roof of a nearby neighbor's garage. The ingenuity of animals always amazes me and we think we're smarter!

And while you're visiting the store, be sure to check out the NEW rewards point program and the 99¢ category! Just Two Crazy Ole Gal Friends

I love, love the soon-to-be-released image by one of Squigglefly's artists, Lynne Stansbery, appropriately titled, Just Two Crazy Ole Gal Friends! Even the sentiment that comes with the image makes me smile! Who knew that growing older with a wonderful friend could be such fun? The image and sentiment will be released on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Squigglefly

Internet Dater

We all know the rule, buyer beware, but for persons who participate in the internet dating groups, there is an ever more important rule, believe nothing! Internet Dater by Marlene available at Bonibleaux Designs, is a typical example of a man trying to start a budding online romance. He describes himself *snort* in a light that only he can see. Don't worry, the response he receives will be equally deceptive starting with her measurements!

Internet Dater is my inspiration for the new Anything Goes challenge that starts today at Dude Time Doodles.  I hope now that the holidays are over you have time to join the fun!
